Mt.Takao/Jingoji-Temple

The predecessor of Jingoji temple was two temple of Takaosanji temple and Shinganji tepple.Takaosanji temple was built by Wakeno Kiyomaro, the high of the Heian government. Later the Wake family invited Dengyo Taish and Kobo Taishi to give them the place to study and spread Buddhism. Kobo Taishi had been stayed here 14 years from the year of 809. The Taishido building where Kobo Taishi had been stayed remain here to be escaped war Onin war damage. This is the valuable cultural cultural heritage of Heian periods.

Getting to the temple you must go up through 300 steep steps. There in the tea shop on the way to the top, you can stop to enjoy tea and beautiful colored leaves. Takao is one the most famous place for colored leaves. On the top having a magnificent view of the colored leaves you must forget the hard work of 300 steps.
