Toji Temple (Kyouougokokuji Temple)


Toji temple was built when the transger of the capital to Kyoto. The five stories tower of this temple is the national treasure and was build by Kukai-Kobo Taishi―, the founder of Shingon sect of Buddhism. It was burnt down and the rebuilt current tower was dedicated by Tokugawa Iemitsu, the third Togugawa shogun.

On the 21 of each month, there will be a flea market in the temple ground. The people in Kyoto like to visit this market for some finds. Will you go to find antiques, old kimono, old books?
